Description:  The RENFE Class 490, also known as the ETR 490, is an electric multiple unit constructed by Alstom and Fiat Ferroviaria in 1998/99. 10 units were built which have a max speed of 220 kph / 137 mph. They run under 3 kV DC on Iberian gauge only. Unlike other members of the Pendolino rail family, the ETR 490 trainset is composed of only three cars: two motors vehicles, with driving cabs, and a trailer vehicle in the centre.

Description:  On 300 kph / 190 mph a AVE service (Alta Velocidad Española, meaning "Spanish High Speed") coming uphill on the Madrid-Alicante line. The Class 100 trains were manufactured by Alstom/France (8 trains) and CAF/Spain (16) and are directly derived from the TGV Atlantique that runs in France.

Description:  The Class 120/121 trainsets are dual-voltage, dual-gauge units capable of changing gauge without stopping at 30 kph /19 mph. Twelve units were ordered in 2001, and a further 45 units in 2004. Power output is 4 MW under 25 kV AC and 2.7 MW under 3 kV DC. The Class 121, as in picture 121 023, has no first class seats and therefore a higher capacity of 282 seats instead of 238 with the Class 120.

Description:  The Class 130 trainsets are designed for high-speed services on Iberian gauge 1,668 mm / 5 ft 5 21/32 in and on 1,435 mm / 4 ft 8 1/2 in lines. They can change gauge at low speed without stopping using Talgo's RD variable gauge system. The power cars use AC traction motors controlled by IGBT inverters which include integrated auxiliary inverters.
