| The first test Re 6/6 of 1972 is still in operation. The 7500 kW power pack is needed to pull a 800t train over 26 ‰ ramp of Gotthard with a speed of 80 kph / 50 mph. To reach the necessary tractive effort, a construction comprising six driven axles was necessary. The first two engines had a split body, with longitudinal movments only. The serial production got a single casing with same traction effects. |
