I see the need for a "rescue train", as the tunnel is some 35 miles long!

For the new base tunnel the summit was lowered from 1150 meters / 3770 ft by the old track to 550 m / 1800 ft above sea level for the new one. There are two emergency stations for passenger evacuation (change to another pick-up train), which are inside 16 km / 10 miles from south portal and 20 km / 12.5 miles from north portal. At those stations are although two track intersection each in between the new twin tunnel system. A few weeks ago an emergency exercise with 800 people in a double ICN500 train, including fake smoke in a car, took succesfully place.
