Album Info:The BLS was founded 1906. Today with a workforce of around 2600 and a line network length of approx. 900 km across seven cantons, BLS AG is the second-largest railway company in Switzerland. The subsidiary BLS Cargo AG has operated the freight transportation of BLS AG since mid 2001. BLS Netz AG is responsible for the operation, maintenance and railway infrastructure construction. The most renowned section of the BLS network is the Loetschberg axis, with its 34.6-km-long Loetschberg base tunnel which became operational in 2007. Description:  100 years of Lötschberg: With the increasing volume of traffic in the 1950s on the Lötschberg route and the increase of the trailer load on the 27 ‰-ramps to 900 t many pre-or intermediate services were required. The solution chosen by the BLS for the reduction of these services provided for a fixed connected double locomotive, which basically consists of two permanently coupled Ae 4/4. 1956 was the first order of the powerful 6475 kW Ae 8/8, which in 5 units started operation 1959.

The Ce 4/6 is an electric locomotive which was procured by Bernese Alps railway company BLS (Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon). Overall, the series consisted of 17 locomotives. The first 14 locomotives were purchased in 1920 and the last three in 1924.
