It is held every two years at the Messe Berlin exhibition centre, which has outdoor standard gauge railway sidings which can be used to exhibit railway vehicles. 126,110 trade visitors from 140 countries came to find out about the latest products and services from the global rail industry, exhibited by 2,515 companies from 49 countries. The two 390 kW MTU engines are compliant with EU Stage IIIb emissions standards and give a top speed of 120 km/h. Regentalbahn is a local German operator which ordered itself 12 units.
