1037 - Green Cargo, Sweden
Title:  1037 - Green Cargo, Sweden
Description:  This locomotive had a unique accident in Hallsberg 2002: The loc driver parked a 1258 t freight consist at the yard, decoubled and moved to his parking position. The installed brakebar could not keep the train in place on a steep part of the yard. The train soon became a runaway train and followed the loc over 2.5 km / 1.5 miles. The driver saw what happens and tried to brake the train down with his engine, but he had no chance against the over 1200 t. So he jumped off, just before his Rc2 with the full load behind crashed into 5 other, parked Rc units with 44 kph / 27.5 mph. His cabin, opposite site in photo, was fully smashed in. Luckely he was out and unhurt. Accident cost was about $ 13 Mio. and it took two weeks to clear the site. 2004 was the damaged locomotive in Örebro, still awaiting its final fate and it seems, for parting out by TABAG, came finally to Kristinehamn. Maybe, now you can buy the remaining pieces as your next garden shelter. More info about the accident in english: search for " www.havkom.se/.../news/rj2003_01eSummary.pdf ", or detailed in Swedish " www.havkom.se/virtupload/news/rj2003_01.pdf ".
