Diesel power in Norway
Title:  Diesel power in Norway
Description:  In 1981 the first TMe locomotive was delivered to Danish state railway DSB to replace the older MX, MY and MZ. Since the Swedish Nohab no longer produced locomotives, the order went to the German Henschel. Historically, Germany had manufactured diesel-hydraulic locomotives, but the ME, like its Swedish predecessors, went diesel-electric and was a pioneer in its day, being fitted with an asynchronous motor, anti-lock braking system and modern electronics.

3004 - VR Finnish Railways
Title:  3004 - VR Finnish Railways
Description:  One of the first Finnish Railways Sr1 in the new colour scheme. VR want to show more environment friendly, in my opinion it makes its engines looking more old fashioned.

3007 - VR Finnish Railways
Title:  3007 - VR Finnish Railways
Description:  The history of Sr1 goes back to 1960s when Finland started to change its main rail lines to overhead wire electricity. it was widely discussed if locomotives would be ordered from the west where most of them came or were licensed, east or even built in Finland. Finally it was decided that the Soviet Novocherkassk could build a type to withstand the harsh winter conditions in Finland for an acceptable price. Much of the electrical parts of the locomotive were however built in Finland. The first units, first electric locomotives for Finland, arrived in 1973. Info by 4rail.net.
